SoccerIQ Monday

Ladies,

We’re kicking off our SoccerIQ Mondays today.

Like I mentioned to all of you in our recent Performance Reviews, it’s important that you watch, REALLY watch, high-level soccer. This will help you better understand how the game is played, and with this better understanding will come better performance.

I will post a video clip here each Monday. It will usually be highlights of some sort, but could also be 10 minutes of a game.

Your job is to watch the clip, then post in the comments below 1 thing that you saw that we’ve talked about this year.

It could be anything that we’ve addressed at any time in training, at games, or during our online sessions - a technique, a tactical idea, anything. It doesn’t have to necessarily be something the player with the ball did. Identification of good or bad off-the-ball movement is completely fine.

Here’s this week’s video clip:

In the comments below, you need to list the time of the moment you’re going to talk about, then tell us what you identified AND why it’s important.

Here’s an example of what I don’t want to see:

00:17 Raphinha dribbled, took a shot, and scored.

Boring.

Any 12-yr-old who plays soccer could have written this same thing.

Set yourself apart from the typical 12-yr-old, and speak to me the soccer intelligence I know you have.

Here’s an example of what I’m looking for:

00:17 Raphinha used the Bounce Killer to get the long, aerial ball played to him rolling on the ground immediately. This is important because it’s easier to play when the ball is rolling on the turf than it is to play when the ball is bouncing.

You have until Friday to get something posted.
