5v5 Winner Stays, Speed Dribble Fitness, and Core Work

With 1/4 of the field, the plan for the day was to play as much as we could.

Our go-to small-sided-game is Winner Stays - a fun, competitive activity that provides plenty of touches, plenty of goals, and plenty of laughs.

I can choose to focus on any topic during this activity. Today was all about encouraging shots from distance. With a 40yd-long field, the girls could be looking for shooting opportunities from midfield.

Why would we want to work on getting quality shots on goal from distance? So opposing defenses don’t just pack it in on us. If we have threats from 20-25 yards away, this will force teams to send players out to stop these attempts, effectively pulling defenders out of more dangerous areas in front of their goal, creating space that we can look to attack.

Finished the session with more fitness work, this time with a ball.
